Video Conversation with Fred Coon (View Below)
Just the other day, I was speaking with Nick Siefers about manufacturing production issues. He shared a unique situation that he had solved, and I want to share that with you. Throughout both of our careers, we have encountered this very problem. Nick said, “The startup firm was experiencing serious part-to-part variations in one of their products, thus creating higher customer returns, all due to manufacturing quality.”
Normally, in larger companies it is an easy fix. Nick also stated, “The company had no money to fix the problem and to make matters worse, they had no quality management or data analysis system in place to identify the cause or analyze how to fix production methods.”
Nick’s solution was results-driven and in his words, “I established process flow diagrams, process control plans, FMEA charts, CpK analysis, and conducted gage studies on major processes, and equipment to mathematically determine current quality levels. I also conducted design of experiments and multiple linear regression analyses on the specific part-to-part measurement variation of the final product”.
What Nick discovered was that “removing one step component of the process would not only reduce cost but reduce the quality variances by 20%”. Nick’s quick action and experience yielded $250,000 in annual cost savings to the company.
If you are having similar problems, contact Nick Siefers, and he’ll be glad to discuss your issues with you.
