Video Conversation with Fred Coon (View Below)
Digital transformation expert, Ryan Raymer and I were discussing how many private and non-profit companies are now facing a revenue crisis, and how many are not equipped to manage such an event, especially during the current COVID19 crisis.
Allow me to me share an important part of our conversation which references this very issue.
Ryan was working with The Salvation Army, one of the most recognizable global charities in the world. They were having difficulty connecting with new and existing customers due to their decades-old approaches. He stated that this “led to a 35% decline in their donor base because they had no actionable strategy in which to connect with new donors”.
Ryan knew they needed a new roadmap; one focused on a digital-based solution supported by revised business processes. He told me, “The barriers were multiple stakeholders, varying cultures, regional bias, and lack of outside experience, all creating challenges to [the] reversal of their declining donor contributions. Also, attempting multiple vendor collaboration escalated the challenge”.
I believed that Ryan’s straightforward approach of onboarding a single division to the Salesforce solution, creation and expansion of a digital program into a national steering committee — one that supported a donor CRM strategy phase — development of an actionable roadmap, and alignment of all third-party vendors into a single workstream to support multiple simultaneous programs, all amounted to a wise and successful solution.
His strategy resulted in all four U.S. regions, using the same baseline donor identification, growth, and interaction processes that were supported by cloud-based technologies anchored in Salesforce.
According to Ryan, “Donor donations increased 15 percent from existing donors, and The Salvation Army added 45 percent [in] new donors. This enabled the organization to return to its status as a top charity, tackling issues such as the growing homeless issue in major cities”.
I appreciate the fact that Ryan specializes in helping organizations understand and determine the “right” staffing models for internally managing their digital footprint. This includes on-and off-shore, internal FTE vs 3rd parties, and remote-vs-on-site. As we all emerge from this new unchartered territory with remote-working/learning as the 800lb gorilla in the room, there will be an even greater need to focus on getting these models balanced; not only to retain and hire great talent, but also to reduce costs and create a seamless digital experience when engaging with customers and workers alike.
I am happy to recommend Ryan in both experience and character; he is a great guy and very approachable person. If your company requires smart solutions, then you would do well to contact Ryan Raymer. I know he’ll be happy to speak with you, anytime.
