After over a decade, a long sought-after municipal project was finally brought to market, and to the surprise of everyone pursuing, it had changed dramatically.\u202f The project had been expanded and would be contracted for in-complex design plus a construction single contract model. \u201cThe leadership who were pursuing this were faced with an entirely new set of requirements for a project they had to win, but had not prepared for,\u201d said Philip Macey, VP \/ Senior Director of Business Development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two design firms were asked to team up and propose as one, but lacked sufficient project history together, and therefore the builder-team needed to lead the proposal to comply with the client\u2019s expectations.\u202f The builder had no model for this type of proposal or the unique multiple buildings under-one-roof solution the client demanded.\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Macey met quickly with the executive team, and they created a guidance group with the BD leadership and the team leadership to merge pursuit leadership from the start.\u202f Macey led Guidance Group and a project team of 18 in a series of proposal creation workshops<\/span> to integrate both local and national design firms with a complex construction team to jointly create unique whole project solutions.<\/span>\u202f<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The team was selected over challenging competition for their breadth and depth of design solutions, unique site and construction methods, and ability to vision the complex construction approach that eliminated street access problems no other team had seen or solved.\u202f \u201cThis integrated strategy allowed the team to win without a project of this type or scale on anyone\u2019s resume,\u201d said Macey.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
