Rohin joined Anthem Inc. in June 2021, as the Head of Product Development for the Spending Accounts product portfolio. He was given the responsibility of the business unit in Consumer Directed Healthcare (CDH) and accountable for the strategy development, sales support, and operations, while leading multi-tier team including Directors.
The business was declining in profitability along with low return on capital employed (ROCE) within the past 3 years. Executive leadership was discouraged by low market share and low internal penetration rates. They had lost any faith in the product portfolio’s growth; hence their expectation from Rohin as the new leader of the business unit to “keep the lights on” and simply make the product operations smoother for the product portfolio.
Instead, Rohin’s strategic leadership convinced the leadership about the growth vision and goal for the business unit and gave the ability to translate strategy into action, align people, and develop strategic competencies.
He performed the SWOT analysis on the product portfolio, conducted market research on target markets, and presented the final report in the form of a business plan to the executive leadership. The proposed strategies backed by metrics resulted in gaining leadership support to execute them. He executed these strategies to increase the EBITDA by $5 million over a two-year period.
If not for his efforts from 2021-2023, the business unit would have missed being transformed to have the growth mindset to increase profits by 20% in the given fiscal year.
